WORLD CUP TENERIFE Regulations
Phase 3. Sleeves for taking times
Phase 4. Quarterfinals / semifinals
Introduction
The following rules are mandatory and must be accepted by all participants. Failure to comply with any guideline in this document, as well as disobedience or disregard for the judges or track personnel during the race and/or practice sessions, will result in expulsion or a penalty.
Participation in the Tenerife World Cup is only permitted for members of the federation who present their membership card with their membership number.
Any inappropriate behavior during the event, as well as any attitude that disrupts the smooth operation and harmony among pilots, spectators, and organizers, will be sufficient grounds for disqualification (penalty) and/or expulsion from the club.
During race days, the use of drones without prior notification to the organizers is strictly prohibited.
Use of a spotter is mandatory during the races.
If any problems arise during the race (battery, drones burning out, etc.), an announcement will be made, and all drones must make an emergency landing. The round in progress at the time of the incident will then be restarted.
Any claims of lost video footage during the race should be reported calmly to the organizers after the race or round. The organization’s video recording system will then be used to verify if video footage was lost.
Speaking, shouting, touching, or disturbing other pilots during the round is prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification from the round, even if video footage is later verified by the judges.
- If video footage is confirmed in our system, the round will be restarted, and the participants’ drones will be checked, including their frequency and configuration. Any drone found to have a frequency exceeding the mandatory milliwatt limit for the race will be disqualified from the competition.
- If it is confirmed that there was no video loss in our system (meaning the problem originates from the participant): The sleeve will not be repeated.
Test phases
The test will be divided into 5 phases:
Phase 1. Verifications
During this phase, all racers must pass through the verification area so that track personnel can certify that all models meet the technical operating and safety requirements. To expedite the process, the models must be without propellers and ready to be connected when required, along with the transmitter. (Bring 1 battery).
The aircraft dimensions will be checked; they must be between 130 and 250 mm in diameter. The Fail Safe functionality will also be verified.
The permitted batteries are 6 cells or fewer, with no capacity limit, charged at a maximum of 4.21V/cell.
Flying will take place in groups of 3 to 6. Each pilot will be assigned a frequency, which cannot be changed during the race, except when required by race management.
During the rounds, until the last drone has landed, it is strictly prohibited to enter the track. Standing up from your seat or speaking/raising your voice
If the race director gives the order «ALL ON THE GROUND,» drones must be landed immediately (if a drone or its battery is emitting smoke). The current heat will be repeated.
No one may walk in front of the pilots while they are flying, as this can interfere with the pilot and cause them to lose control of the drone.
Always turn on the transmitter before the drone to avoid accidental arming.
No one may pick up another person’s drone. Only the pilot or the track marshal may do so.
This is to prevent damage to both the pilot by picking it up in case of accidental arming or malfunction, and to the drone itself in case it has lost any components during the fall, allowing the owner to be informed of its location.
When the start checks begin, in case of any incident, the pilot will have 2 minutes to change drones. If someone cannot start, they will withdraw by turning off and removing their drone from the starting grid position, meaning that round will not be counted.
If a pilot jumps the start, the start will be repeated up to a maximum of 2 times. If any pilot exceeds this limit, they will be disqualified from that round.
Each obstacle that is not cleared correctly must be reversed on the course to be completed properly. Failure to do so will result in the round not being counted and the pilot being disqualified.
Before each round, the video will be checked to ensure it is working correctly, and the drone’s arming will be verified. The pilot will have 2 minutes to change drones.
Phase 2. Warm-ups
The pilots will have 2 training batteries. Each round will have a limited time of 5 minutes maximum . The order and distribution of the pilots will be determined by the track staff and the channel availability queue, also according to the participation rate in the event.
You can always change according to the need of the organization.
Phase 3. Qualifiers
15 (depending on the number of participating pilots) timed runs (FASTEST LAP OR BEST OF 3 LAPS). All three laps must be completed for the run to count.
Drones that do not complete all 3 laps will not receive a time for the round.
The final ranking will be determined by the best lap time obtained from all qualifying rounds.
The order of each group will be randomized by the race system (Livetime). The organizers also reserve the right to change the order via a draw if necessary.
Once the qualifying rounds are completed, the 8, 12, or 16 best pilots will be selected based on their times from the elimination phase.
There will be a 5-minute break for pilots to perform necessary checks on their drones, including repairs and setting up the video channel assigned in the draw.
The development of the sleeves can always be changed according to the needs of the organization.
Phase 4. Qualifications for semifinals
3 groups with 4 drivers in each group, 4 heats will be run per group (a total of 12 races) of which the 8 with the least points will qualify for the next round. In case of a tie for points, an additional round will be made to break the tie.
1st 1 points
2nd 2 points
3rd 3 points
4th 4 points
– 5 points for the pilot(s) who will not fly the race
Phase 4. Semifinals
2 groups of 4 riders in each group, 3 heats per group will be run from which the 4 riders who get fewer points will qualify for the final. In case of a tie for points, an additional round will be made to break the tie.
1st 1 points
2nd 2 points
3rd 3 points
4th 4 points
– 5 points for the pilot(s) who will not fly the race
Phase 5. Final
In the final, the 4 best pilots will run a total of 3 races, winning the one with the fewest points. In case of a tie for points, an additional round will be made to break the tie.
1st 1 points
2nd 2 points
3rd 3 points
4th 4 points
– 5 points for the pilot(s) who will not fly the race
technical requirements
Each pilot may participate with a minimum of 2 and up to 4 drones, provided they have successfully passed the verification phase. If a model does not meet any of the requirements, the owner may rectify the problem as soon as possible, provided it is before the start of the event. Otherwise, the model will not be allowed to compete.
The model’s size must be between 130 mm and 250 mm in length, measured diagonally from motor axis to motor axis.
The VTX must be easily accessible to allow for quick frequency changes or have the necessary configuration to do so via the OSD, as each pilot’s frequency may change to adapt to new frequencies as the qualifying rounds progress to the final race.
The video transmitter will be one of the following:
ImmersionRc Tramp HV or Tramp Nano VTX with the easy-to-use TNR (without Smart Audio)
A TBS, Tramp, Foxxer, Rush, or similar VTX is acceptable, provided it is in good working order, has Smart Audio, and displays the channel on the OSD.
The pilot’s name and the VTX channel must also be displayed on the OSD (Mandatory).
Flying will be at 25mW power.
If a VTX is detected with a transmission power exceeding 25mW during the race or a round, it will be immediately disqualified from the event.
If using Tramps, the ImmersionRc video transmitter’s TNR must be positioned for easy and quick frequency adjustment by track personnel.
VTX HDzero racing drone authorized at 25mW with OSD mandatory
Note: Under no circumstances is it permitted to turn on a drone in the pits while a race is in progress. Doing so could result in disqualification from the event.
Increasing the power of your VTX in flight via button or lever during flight will result in immediate elimination from the Tenerife World Cup for cheating.
It is mandatory to view the VTX’s channel, power, and frequency on the OSD.
LEDs: Optional, but a minimum of two LEDs on the rear legs would be better for night flights.
Failsafe: For the safety of pilots and spectators, and to avoid any problems, drones that lose signal between the transmitter and receiver must disarm by completely stopping all motors.
Drones that do not comply with this requirement will not be allowed to fly in the event.
To perform this check, the drone will be powered on and armed without propellers, and then the transmitter will be turned off.
The drone must be disassembled in less than 10 seconds.
Career development
- Schedules
The official schedule will be sent to all registered drivers by email, in addition to being published on the event website. Maximum punctuality is requested, both at the arrival and at the times established for the different phases of the race. In case of lateness, the organization will not be responsible in case the pilot cannot train or compete in the test.
Upon arrival at the venue, all drivers must go to the race organization post to register.
Once registered, the circuit is assembled with all the pilots and once the event is over, all the participating pilots disassemble the circuit of the day (Mandatory).
Subsequently, they must pass the mandatory checks before starting the warm-up flights.
- Arrangement of pilots
In both warm-ups and the rest of the heats, pilots about to take to the track will place their drones in groups of four on the queue. Before entering the starting position, the track crew will adjust the video channels.
Pilots must be ready for their next heat; they have two minutes to be on the track with their drone. If a pilot is not ready to fly, they will lose their flight turn for that round and will not be able to repeat.
Pilots must have at least two drones to compete. If a drone fails upon departure, they may swap it for another. If they do not have another drone, they will lose their turn for the round and will not be able to repeat.
- Model connection
IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO CONNECT THE MODEL AT ANY TIME WITHOUT EXPRESS AUTHORIZATION FROM THE ORGANISATION. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS RULE MAY BE GROUNDS FOR EXPULSION.
FORBIDDEN TO CONNECT THE VTX video transmitter to more than 25mw. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS RULE MAY BE GROUNDS FOR EXPULSION.
When appropriate, the staff will give the order to the pilots to enter the track, having left their transmitters outside of it. Once inside, the models will be connected and placed at the exit ordered by frequency. The pilots will leave the track and pick up their radio. The track judge will then be able to authorize the execution of a test of assembly of the models.
- Exit
The pilots will go to their seats. The judge will ask if they are ready, to which they must respond with a thumbs up if they are or thumbs down otherwise.
The judge may grant a maximum of 2 minutes if any of the pilots is not ready.
Once everyone is ready, or the time allowed has been exceeded, the start will be given.
- Flight
Once airborne, pilots must follow the course layout, navigating through all obstacles. If a pilot misses a gate or flag, or if a judge determines that a pilot has missed an element, the opposing pilot must remove it using their own equipment. If it is a qualifying round, they will be disqualified from that round; if it is a race, they will be ranked last and receive 5 points.
During the flights, pilots must remain silent, stay still, and remain in their seats until all flights in progress have finished. Any complaints must be made to the race director after the round or race has concluded.
- Completion of the sleeve
The sleeve ends once the last gate is reached after the established laps, or when a fall occurs and it is not possible to resume flight, either because the model is upside down, or because it has suffered damage.
No pilot will be able to enter the runway until all the others have finished their flight. You must wait for the rest to land and the authorization judge to enter the track.
*Note: The organization reserves the right to modify or cancel any of these rules in order to guarantee the success of the test.
